About the Conference
Digitalization is changing almost every part of our society at an unprecendented pace. Corporate, political and other societal stakeholders produce more data than ever before. This is unequivocally predicted to profoundly impact and alter our societies. Our seminar aims to examine how the ubiquitous collection of data and its use throughout political and cultural spaces affect our societies.

Different countries have different responses to the changes that lie ahead.
They have developed different mechanisms to cope with this change, and to shape it in a manner consistent with their geopolitical intentions. The seminar will discuss those different approaches in a critical way. Hereby, a special emphasis will be on the transatlantic similarities and differences in dealing with the challenges of the digital age.

The conference will provide a combination of expert lectures and group discussions on some of the most prevelant social issues of our time.
The conference will be held in English. It is open to recipients of the scholarship issued by the The German Academic Scholarship Foundation and UC Berkeley students.
